David Knights developed designs for the Eastern Avenue upgrade. Sydney University upgraded the main boulevard to transform it into a pedestrian boulevard. David worked with Turf Design to develop designs to treat stormwater from the main boulevard and surrounding buildings, and to treat this in a series of raingardens located in the landscaped building forecourt. Stormwater runoff was also directed to the new trees along the avenue to provide passive irrigation during rain events.
David also developed designs for a harvesting system which collected the treated water, stored in an underground storage tank. The water was reused within buildings on campus for toilet flushing as well as irrigation.
