Civille developed the concept designs and detailed designs for the conversion of the locally heritage listed Old Menangle School into a new community hub and park.
The designs included a number of new built form including refurbished and restored old school building into a new multi-functional community hall, new accessible amenities building, new community potting shed, and new outdoor kitchen and dining area. We worked closely with G3 Architecture on the building designs.
The designs included a range of passive recreation facilities including a new play space, nature play, sensory garden and community garden area. This was supported with two new car park facilities to service the site including designs for a new electric vehicle charging station.
Heritage was a key design consideration for the site. The local community heritage group had been instrumental in advocating for the restoration of the site and had a high level of interest in the site’s designs. We worked closely with Sue Roosen Associates to ensure the designs respected the heritage of the site.
