A business case for Ozfish to lead litter prevention in the Wambuul-Macquarie River at Dubbo and Wellington
Civille developed a litter prevention business case for the Macquarie River at Dubbo and Wellington. Ozfish, who was already active in river clean-ups and fish habitat restoration in the local area, led this initiative to complement their other programs. They were aiming to empower their own and other local organisations to take action to prevent litter from reaching the Macquarie River in the first place.
The business case outlines the why, who, where and how of litter prevention, establishing a framework for future action based on pairing NSW EPA’s litter prevention tools with local networks, knowledge and resources.
As part of developing the business case, Ozfish has completed Local Litter Checks at hotspot sites, using EPA’s tools. We analysed the data from these Local Litter Checks so that the business case was informed by this local data.
