Civille developed the masterplan, concept designs, and detailed designs for a new park in Ashfield. The park celebrates local diversity and has been designed as a park for all ages and as a dementia friendly park. It is named after Lewis Herman OAM who was a proud advocate for Ashfield and its longest-serving Mayor.
The site is located adjacent to a large seniors village as well as several other popular senior villages nearby. We held a series of workshops with the adjacent seniors village to understand how to best incorporate the needs of this demographic into the design of the park and the facilities to encourage seniors into the park.
Key design challenges at the park were providing multiple levels of program for the different user groups. The park includes an impressive range of program in a small space including a purpose built senior friendly fitness area, sensory garden, nature play area, water play pump and creek, play space, youth parkour space and BBQ and picnic tables.
Civille undertook the architectural and structural design of all the structures within the park including the shade structure and picnic shelter.
