A strategy to reduce litter in the Cooks River by 50% by 2025
Civille delivered the Cooks River Litter Prevention Strategy in 2021. Its goal is to reduce litter in the Cooks River catchment by 50% by 2025. The strategy outlines the who, where and how of litter prevention, establishing a framework for future action based on pairing NSW EPA’s litter prevention tools with local networks, knowledge and resources.
We worked with the River Canoe Club of NSW, the Cooks River Alliance, its members and community groups to develop the strategy in collaboration with these organisations and help establish a stronger partnership between community and government on litter prevention. We also worked closely with the EPA, who funded the strategy’s development.
The final draft strategy was endorsed by the Cooks River Alliance’s four member councils and it has enabled several grant applications for litter prevention projects.
