Yesterday was the official opening of the Old Mena

Yesterday was the official opening of the Old Menangle School site, which used to be a public school between 1871-1976 and is now open again for the community.
Civille & G3 Architecture designed upgrades to the site, which include a playground and nature play areas, a community outdoor kitchen, BBQ and shelter facilities, toilets, car park, and the restored heritage school building.
The community turned up to celebrate the occasion, including some of the former students of the old school. (Photo 3)

The Picton Botanic Gardens Inclusive Playspace inc

The Picton Botanic Gardens Inclusive Playspace includes a bespoke White Waratah climbing tower, representing Wollondilly’s floral emblem. A separate toddler play area is located close to the new amenities and open lawn. The two areas are linked by a sensory boardwalk, which includes a range of musical and tactile elements for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy.
The boardwalk provides an accessible pathway between the play areas while maintaining the overland flow path from the pond to Stonequarry Creek. New plantings have been curated by the Picton Botanic Gardens team to increase the diversity of the gardens and integrate the new playspace.

We are excited to see the new Inclusive Playspace

We are excited to see the new Inclusive Playspace and Amenities open at Picton Botanic Gardens in time for the school holidays!
The playground includes a toddler playspace, sensory boardwalk, water play and the feature Waratah Climber which becomes a beacon in the parklands on dusk. The new playground and amenities realise the next stage of the Picton Parklands Master Plan and continue to evolve this hidden gem into a highly valuable recreation asset for the community of Wollondilly.

Civille’s Alexa McAuley and Thomas Hawthorne wor

Civille’s Alexa McAuley and Thomas Hawthorne worked with Blue Mountains City Council to co-design a new rain garden and swale at the Glenbrook Visitor Information Centre. We then assisted with building the rain garden and swale at a working bee involving more than a dozen staff.
Council will be able to use this as a demonstration site and draw on the experience to promote small-scale rain gardens and swales to residents and visitors, who could apply similar measures in their own gardens.
